While summer is often a time at which a young man (or young lady) enjoys the freedom and room for spontaneity that comes with being single, the lack of sunlight and warmth that comes with the approaching winter months also carries along with it a sense of loneliness and desire for companionship. Because of this, many a relationship is forged during the winter months. Between now and the new year there will be a plethora of holiday parties which will provide the opportunity for many an alcohol fueled holiday encounter with a member of the fairer sex. Often, a young man hit by the loneliness of winter will become over anxious in the aftermath of this encounter and attempt to fall in love before the ball drops on new years eve. But rather than make this crucial error, one should follow the advice of relationship expert Mike Skinner, and make sure that above all things, that they don’t mug themselves. But don’t listen to me, listen to Mr. Skinner:

the strokes return

i am very excited at the news that the strokes will be playing together again, at least at one UK festival this summer. say what you will about them, but these guys play the brand of ‘fuck it’ rock music that the world is sorely missing right now, and if you’ve ever seem them live, you know that they are not to be missed. there was also a rumor floating around this week (via twitter, of course) that they may have a record coming out in 2010. lets cross our fingers.

until then, here is a video of one of the most rock n’ roll late night performances ever. especially note the intensity in his eyes, and the fall at the end.
